Snippa was a group buying website modeled around Groupon (based in London) founded by Tim O’Shea and David Hobart. Users got great deals on cool stuff to do, such as 80% off an extreme sport or 50% off their favourite restaurant. Enough of the membership had to buy into the deal within the allotted time frame in order for the deal to activate. Apparently, too much competition from 11 other Groupon clones and faced with Groupon itself arriving in the UK led to the decision to close down operations after launch.
